About Avengers Testing Server:
This game might not win awards for originality, both in setting and mechanics, but it’s a tight and well done roguelike that has fun combat, environments, weapons, gear, and perks to keep you playing, and honestly I can’t ask for much more than that for $14 CDN. Vaguely reminds me of the niche game Fight the Dragon, besides something mainstream like Hades. And you know, maybe I’m being too harsh by saying it’s not original. It does have the idea of keeping your health level between “quests” (basically 3-6 floor mini-runs), and gaining Bloodstones that are used to unlock the boss of each biome.Oh, and a comment on bosses, they aren’t some super crazy difference from basic enemies, where you need to memorize their patterns and so on to beat them. Which I like, but some may not. Otherwise the biggest expectation that might fall short for some people is how…not varied the runs are, as you don’t get a ton of perks per run, and there isn’t crazy synergies or that “super OP build” you might get in other roguelikes. So build variety is lacking, I’d say. And if you don’t intentionally choose to switch weapons (all of which have their own attack pattern, which is cool), it’ll feel even more same-y.Besides Neon Chrome this is my favorite 10tons game.Nice little semi-roguelite-ish game. Not keeping your upgrades if you don’t die during a mission was weird. All of the flat damage perks seemed same-y and overpowered. The concept is great and the art is great and it feels great. Really solid smash ’em up roguelite that could use a bit of depth. Looking forward to updates!
