About Build Your Base And Troops:
Very good game of HOMM stripped of all that fiddly tactical combat nonsense. Actually, I like the tactical combat nonsense, but this game does retain some of it. What I never liked was running around collecting my troops from their spawn points and this game does away with that entirely. The tactics remains as you really do need to consider your enemies’ disposition as well as your own. You don’t need to shuffle your units around too much (those stupid archers are the problem), but switching between their skills is very critical. I made one mistake this last game and it cost me dearly. However, I had time to come back and regroup. I bought this game on a whim since it was 10 cents under the buck and I also had half an hour to kill. I ended up playing this hours on end somehow. The gameplay is simple yet addictive, set up a team to fight in auto battles by rearranging them depending on the enemies make up and where/how they attack. It’s quick and after a few tries relatively easy to understand the mechanics (it took a few runs for me to understand how the reinforcement mechanics worked, despite being written in the how to play). With how quick runs took, each loss just compelled me to try another run and try another squad lineup. Playing on the second highest difficulty, though I no idea what each level adjusts in terms of challenge.
