About Jailbreak:
I loved loved the first Adventure Boy. It was a surprise stream for me, and chat and I loved it. A surprise hit. This one, not so much. It follows a similar pattern but the writing just isn’t as funny or creative as the first. We encountered a couple of glitches where the character was in the gully height when above it, and vice versa but a quick world reset by going in and out of nearest door fixed that. The game is also very short compared to the first one, and the final fight is copy paste same style as AB Cheapskate. Was disappointed with this, but it’s not like they are asking for a huge amount of money. If you haven’t played the first Adventure Boy, go play that. But this one. maybe stay clear. Bought this on a complete whim, and boy was I in for a treat. Best $3 I have ever spent. I normally don’t review games, but this one was too cool not to. Spoilers? Kind of? The game is rather short, I beat it in 39 minutes, but it was completely worth it. Especially at the price, you can’t complain. The game dialogue is very fun and all the unique characters, although short interactions, are designed and done just well enough to make every encounter different and memorable. The game’s design involves a little thinking and investigation; you have to remember NPCs, what they say, and what they want. You go about collecting items in several trade quests to eventually get the main items you need to break your friend out of jail. There were only a couple times where I was absolutely stumped; particularly when I got the paddle ball and got honey on it…I had no idea what to do. Took me a good 6 minutes to finally figure it out; the one place I never checked. The whole ordeal reminds me of something out of Ed Edd n Eddy. I never found myself getting frustrated at any point. Anytime I got a new item I had the realization of “Oh hey, this guy wanted this!” or “Oh wow I can probably use this for this!” Except for the paddle ball with honey. That one took me way too long to figure out, but that’s my fault!
