About Pet Salon Tycoon:
I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single farther to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. Perhaps the biggest point of innovation SAP did is the asynchronous multiplayer. No waiting around in a queue. You can leave mid-run and come back. There is no time limit on turns. You battle against another player that previously made a build that is on the same turn as you. In a way, it kinda feels like playing a roguelike, you do “runs” in a very similar fashion. Don’t be swayed by free to play. Without paying, the base pack is still a solid experience. A weekly pack is also free, which provides lots of variety. The monetisation is fair. If you like the game, you can buy additional packs for more content. If you do, you play against other players using the same pack, so no pay-to-win. The achievements (i.e. the stickers and ribbons) give a long term goal and motivation to keep playing. You get a sticker for leveling a pet to the max, and a ribbon for also winning with that maxed out pet in your squad. That also provides an interesting problem of how to win with a specific pet.
