Standard disclaimer, this is an EA game, may change, whatever. They’ve just released a patch that has totally ruined what made this game unique. Previously you could run a temple with 1-3 phantoms, finish the Ruins area and opt out to take the relic knowing that you’d be the only one ever to do so, but if you progressed down you’d be competing with players who likely came in through different temples for the better prizes. This was a unique an interesting mechanic. Now each temple is a single run, everyone goes in the same way, which means there’s no feeling of accomplishment when you take the relic at green or blue levels and every temple has 20 phantoms in it at the start which completely overcrowds the map at the green/ruins level. It’s a total misstep. The new traps are awesome but this change in the basic mechanics is terrible. My favourite part of the game was the unique feeling of being the only one to run a temple and be able to send the code to my bros if I failed at it. EDIT: With the crowding of phantoms early on in the temples, the Bamboo Whip is now RIDICULOUSLY overpowered, you just don’t die if you use it, you can just stand at any chest or shrine and leech all your health back from the phantoms coming in. What were you guys thinking with this one!? Will update my review if this changes. Worth grabbing – REALLY fun. Whip slinging, temple running, trap dodging, something is after me, butt puckering because I’m falling too far fun. Looking forward to challenging some friends to recover my lost loot! Side note – I play a lot of games, I think this one of the few times my wife has watched me play and instantly wanted a copy of the game for herself. “It’s gorgeous!” I am pretty sure she was talking about the game and not my pajama wearing ass.
