About Project Delta:
I never thought to write something for this despite having a couple hundred hours in it. Winter is a fun social deception game with a comfortable amount of depth when it comes to strategies, roles and crafting, but what I find it particularly adept in is how it makes use of the deduction and suspicion element of these kinds of games. Coming and going from the cabin only to find someone missing for the last 10~ minutes or so, and setting off in split groups to search for resources and objectives – these both create an interesting dynamic as you get to suspect others and form alliances, break friendships and engage in tomfoolery over the course of a 30 minute period. It’s a lot more drawn out and suspenseful in a way, which can certainly be a little annoying if you happen to die early (as your game input from thereon is pretty minimal with some exceptions), but it makes for very memorable games which created some stories. I still remember years on from when I first got into it. Me and some friends were hooked on this during the 2020 lockdown and it was a great outlet for just general shenanigans and getting to hang out in the frozen fields, betraying each other over and over again. As almost my entire playtime is in private games with friends, I can’t speak too heavily on that the general public matchmaking is like, but I can certainly give a strong recommendation for anyone looking for something fun to learn and dig around into with their friends.
