About Saber Simulator:
Yeah, this is a must if you have a VR. The concept is simple but the feeling of slicing blocks to the beat is exhilarating. If Csikszentmihalyi is right with the assertion that the flow state is when we experience the best moments in our lives, then we may have just found the key to happiness. Ok, but really it’s an excellent game. That said I’ve only so far played custom maps made available via modding and have little interest in the actual base game content. It seems like a cop-out to give a game such glowing praise while only playing modded content but it is absolutely essential if you want to experience Beat Saber at its best as modders have created thousands of custom levels set to songs unavailable in the base game. This is the best bang for your buck as the DLC can be pricey and the base library is really limited. With mods, you’ll find yourself spending hours parsing through the level searcher for your favourite songs. Luckily with this game, modding is extremely simple. You’ll also find yourself playing for hours only to realise that you’ve just been doing light to moderate cardio. Really, dancing while playing Beat Saber is the most fun I’ve had gaming in years. Imagine having fun while exercising. Yeah, this isn’t a substitute for a proper workout but any exercise is good exercise, especially if it’s fun. Enough said. Game good. Great game, Only great with mods though. The stock songs and dlc songs are just not worth it. If you want to play all the dlc songs as of writing this you will need to pay an additional $142 or mod it and get unlimited songs created by the community. Mods are the only reason this game is even alive. They should just pull an Osu! and properly support modding/song creation instead of deleting all mods with each update, forcing you to roll back and re-download the game with an older update.
