About Sword Blox Online Rebirth:
This was a game I bought on a whim when it was on sale, but after picking it up and 28 hours later, this is a solid game in my books. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the graphics were, and the cutscenes were animated quite well. Yes, the story is similar to that of Chinese opera set in older times in a fantasy world, but there’s nothing wrong with that. The world that this game takes place in is vibrant and draws you in. The overall world-building is paced relatively well to go hand-in-hand with the story. Combat is linear, but can also be customized just enough for you to try out different combos with different characters. Each character has has like three different combo chains they can execute with basic attacks, but you can obviously weave in your skills during these combos at nearly any time, making it pretty standard to have a different approach to different battles. Not to mention, each playable character has a distinctly different fighting style so you can always switch things up whenever you fight. The combat system rewards skillful play but doesn’t overly punish if you want to just faceroll everything either. It’s fair for what it is. Whenever you want to take a break from the main story, the side quests are abundant and entertaining enough as well. There’s bits of slapstick comedy snuck in the lines that got a chuckle out of me. Overall, this is worth the buy, especially on sale. There were parts where I rushed, so it feels like around 30 hours of gameplay which was worth my money.
