About TurtleSpy:
Janky DMC describes it best. It features a fantastic combat system with enemies ranging from great to medioce. On higher difficulties proper crowd control and an understanding of the character’s toolset are an absolute must. Bosses are varied and well designed except for one massive issue: they cannot escape juggles, meaning that you can juggle them infinitely which removes all the challenge. Asaru requires quite a bit of investment to master but offers insane combo potential in return. His combat reminds me of DMC5 Nero in the sense that it focuses a lot on just timing presses and every button having a hold action. While initially reliant on dodging enemies, with enough unlockable skills he can start playing very offensively by relying on the game’s parry system, which functions much like it does in DMC in that every single attack and projectile can be parried as long as the active frames of your attack overlap with the enemies’. Amelia is the complete opposite of that in the sense that she is easy to learn and master but doesn’t offer a whole lot of variety though she is still fun as heck to play as due to her being game breakingly good. Her playstyle focuses on aerial combat though her infnite juggles and teleport kick. Much like Asaru many of her attacks have hold actions and her combat focuses around blocking or parrying attacks. The art style is unique and appealing but the graphical fidelity is rather disappointing. In particular the insane DOF that activates at like 20 meters distance is absolutely disgusting and can’t be disabled at all for no reason. The OST is fantastic though you can barely hear it due to sound effects being insanely loud. Performance wise it’s fairly bad and chugs unless some graphical settings are lowered. It also suffers from a myriad of minor bugs here and there though I haven’t encountered anything game breaking. The developers are clearly talented and understand how to design an intricate combat system but seem to suffer greatly from a lack of budget and/or time. I hope to see more from them in the future though. In conclusion I’d recommend it for anyone who has already finished every major stylish action game available and needs something more.
