About Unit 1968:
One of the best strategy games I’ve come across. Excellent blend of tactical options along with very well designed maps. The AI is one of the smartest of any game I’ve played and will have you tearing your hair out for leaving that “safe” supply dump unguarded. It took me a while to find the sweet spot of this game as there’s so little media to help you with the finer complexities but thankfully on Youtube there’s a channel called Sampstra Games which has very good tips. Anyone complaining about turn limits just doesn’t understand the nuances of this gem. This game is about World War II. Specifically one is playing Allied forces in their drive to vanquish the Third Reich from the shores of North Africa, Italy, France and lastly Germany. In addition the devs have implemented several alternate ahistorical scenarios for the player in order to change history! On a side note, the change in map perspective (tactical map in each mission) has impoved the game’s allure. I played UOC I back in the days and enjoyed the bust icons that represented the different units. Switching the unit garment is definitely and improvement. The depth of the game changed enormously…for the best. It will take time though, to adjust to the different nuances of UOC. But dont despair, there are some formidable tutorials and vids on steam and youtube.Also, the devs have released some additional dlc which I have not played.Overall this game is worth each and every penny, cent, dinar or pound you pay.
