About World Zero:
World Zero is the remake of “Iron Storm” that can also be found on Steam. The game has been made shorter and all annoying stealth parts are gone now. I didn’t like the change of skins and that you can’t quicksave anymore though. Still, World War Zero should be considered the definitive version of the game. Overall, World War Zero is a mediocre shooter with a great start fighting in trenches, some interesting propaganda clips and a weaker second half. The biggest gripe I have with this game is that you can only change weapons with the mouse wheel. Also, I had to limit my FPS via the NVIDIA Control Panel by adding the game’s exe and enforcing vsync. BUT there is value here, the world, and alternate 1960s (think Resistance for PS3) where World War 1 never ended, and the war is on the stock market. When you visit a save computer, you can see a little news report of the enemy forces, with a nugget of worldbuilding. Those are interesting. The weapon and enemy designs are cool, but limited by hardware of the time, and have terrible animations. Some of the later levels are pretty damn cool in concept, like the megatrain and the alternate Reichstag. The turrets are a cool idea (though they can shred you). Don’t forget you can disable alarms by pressing any alarm button.I would recommend to those who can overlook some jank, and have around 4 hours spare. This game makes me wish flawed games got remakes instead of great ones.
